"Marilyn Musgrave has earned a fourth term" - The Denver Post

A native of the 4th Congressional District, Marilyn overcame the difficult circumstances of abject poverty and an alcoholic father while growing up. After raising four children as a small business owner, she served on the school board and in the state legislature before coming to Congress in 2002.

She is a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, where she helped serve as a key negotiator on the latest Farm Bill that provided millions of dollars for area food banks and increased nutrition for area schoolchildren. Marilyn is also a member of the House Committee on Small Business and has earned endorsements from the National Federation of Independent Businesses and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Marilyn has taken great pride in standing up for the common sense values that Coloradans share. In addition to protecting the long agricultural heritage of the 4th district, she has staunchly defended agriculture Coloradans right to bear arms, protected taxpayers against government waste and ensured a great education for all children. Additionally, Marilyn has fought her party and the White House on behalf of veterans. She proudly voted for the newest G.I. bill which will allow veterans to pass on educational benefits to their children for the first time.

Recently, Marilyn fought hard against the $700 billion bailout for Wall Street. She worked with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to find a solution to the economic problem, insisting on real reform to Fannie and Freddie and more accountability for Wall Street executives. Without these reforms, Marilyn stood up for taxpayers and voted against the Main Street bailout of Wall Street.

Having worked tirelessly to defend Colorado values and improve the lives of 4th District residents, Marilyn is ready to lead in the tough times. She understands what tough times are like because she lived through them as a little girl and a small business owner trying to raise 4 children. Having taken on everyone from the White House to the Republican establishment to improve the lives of her fellow Coloradans, Marilyn is ready to lead again in the days ahead.
